Not Just Obama's People On Crack

If the hysterical statement Senator Barbara Boxer (D CA) is any indication, the Dems are going to focus on Palin's experience, something I think is insane.

"The vice president is a heartbeat away from becoming president, so to choose someone with not one hour's worth of experience on national issues is a dangerous choice."

Palin has more executive level experience than any of the other people running in either party. Palin has a substantial record in Alaska, something that Senator Obama does not have in either Illinois or the US Senate. Palin has shown a tendency to do what is right regardless of the effect on her party. Obama...Obama is a party animal. She has more military experience than Senator Obama (keep in mind, she is head of the Alaska National Guard, as well as having a son getting ready to deploy to Iraq).

Now, I don't want to go overboard. Certainly, she has about as much foreign policy as I have...or Senator Obama has. She is a state politician not a national level politician (although governors are sort of in-between the two levels); but Senator Obama's national level experience is limited, with a significant amount of his time in the Senate actually being spent running for president.

The problem, ultimately, is that Obama's resume is, at best, equivalent to Palin's. If her experience is not good enough to be VP, why is his good enough to be Commander in Chief?

The Dems are reacting out of an understandable concern, bordering on panic. McCain has just changed the dynamics of the race significantly. He has not only shored up his base, but, if early indications are correct, energized them. He has put into play a person who may be able to draw significant support from the undecideds and from Obama's presumptive voters. And, he has spooked the Dems into attacking Palin on the one thing they should not be touching yet; her experience.

Any critical statements about what she has and has not done can only reflect poorly on Obama, either highlighting his own lack of experience or seeming to be an attack on her accomplishments (remember, McCain and the GOP, if they are smart, will be making an attacks on her look like an attack on women.)

Silent Night

(1)

Silent night! Holy night!

All is calm, all is bright!

Round yon virgin mother and child!

Holy Infant, so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace,

Sleep in heavenly peace.

(2)

Silent night! Holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight!

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heav'nly hosts sing Alleluia;

Christ the Savior is born!

Christ the Savior is born!

(3)

Silent night! Holy night!

Son of God, love's pure light

Radiant beams from thy holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth, ,

Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
